Iranian animations to compete in French film festival

The 56th Annecy Int’l Animation Film Festival is to screen 2 Iranian animations.

The 56th Annecy International Animation Film Festival has scheduled to screen two Iranian animations in different competition sections.

‘Ascribed Achievements’ directed by Samaneh Shojaei will compete at the Graduation Film section.

The 4-minute animation is about a man who is dissatisfied with his hereditary appearance and decides to end his life. But his failed suicide creates a new situation in his life.

‘Maned & Macho’ (Yal va Koopal) directed by Shiva Sadeq-Assadi will compete at the Short Films section of the event.

The 11-minute work is about a young girl's repressed emotions and instincts which are embodied in some animals that come out of her dreams. However, no one in her family is receptive to the animals.

Launched in 1960, the Annecy International Animation Film Festival (AIAFF) takes place at the beginning of June in the town of Annecy, France.

Initially occurring every two years, the festival became an annual event since 1998.

It is one of the four international animated film festivals sponsored by the Association Internationale du Film d'Animation (or ASIFA, the International Animated Film Association).

The 2017 edition of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival will run in the French city on June 12-17.
